Carvajal facing potential two-match suspension after yellow card against Celta

The Spanish Football Federation could decide to extend his regular one-match ban to two if they deem that he deliberately tried to get the yellow card.

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is facing a potential two-match suspension after the yellow card he saw during Saturday’s home game against Celta de Vigo.

Carvajal saw his fifth yellow late in the game, so he’s now suspended for the next match against Osasuna, but if the Spanish Football Federation deem that the defender deliberately tried to get booked, they could extend his suspension to an additional game.

Carvajal got booked after crossing the entire field to leave the game instead of abandoning the pitch through his own right wing, which is now allowed. Then, he got into a bit of an argument with referee De Burgos Bengoetxea, subsequently getting that yellow card. Real Madrid were 2-0 up in the score with just seven minutes left, so it was indeed a bit strange seeing Carvajal wasting time and then arguing with the referee.

The Spanish Football Federation will make a decision about Carvajal’s suspension during the week. Still, he will surely miss Real’s next match against Osasuna.
