Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal didn’t complete Wednesday’s training session with the rest of the squad as he seems to be nursing a niggle.
The defender will still be suspended after seeing his fifth yellow card during the last game against Celta Vigo, so he will have time to recover properly and make sure that he’s 100% ready for the Spanish Supercup Semifinal against Athletic Bilbao, set to take place on January 14th.
Carvajal’s defensive presence has been needed this season, even if he made a big mistake on Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Elche making the decisive penalty on Antonio Barragan. Without him, coach Zinedine Zidane will likely rely on either Alvaro Odriozola or Lucas Vazquez for that spot.
Vazquez, albeit not a right-back, has been solid in that spot this season while Odriozola has mostly been injured during the first half of the campaign. Osasuna are fighting to avoid relegation, so Zidane’s decision will be an important one.
