The French national team are getting a taste of what is like to have Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema leading their offensive line. Benzema completed a brilliant performance against Spain, scoring the equalizer in impressive fashion, and then discussed the game with the press.

“I am very happy, these last two games have been played at a very high level. I’m happy for the team and also for me, this is a very important title. I’m proud of the work I’ve done, being back and winning makes me so happy, as I can enjoy a trophy with my teammates and I am looking forward to winning more in the future,” said Benzema.

This was Benzema’s first title with the French national team, so needless to say he was very satisfied after the game.

“This was a dream come true from a team and a personal perspective. I was so looking forward to winning a title with France, it wasn’t easy. We showed our strength and character, we never give up and we never pushed the panic button, we were patient. We were able to score two goals. Now we have to enjoy this and get ready for the World Cup,” he added.

The attacker was then asked about his brilliant goal.

“My goal? It’s a shot I practice often in training, trying to put the ball close to the far post. When I hit the ball, I knew it was going in but I certainly didn’t know that it would be as close to the upper corner as it was,” concluded Benzema.
