Gareth Bale, as always with a sense of humour, spoke to English TV this weekend about his love for the sport of golf. The Welshman has been playing golf this weekend at Madrid’s Villa de Madrid Country Club, where he’s also following the Spanish Golf Open.
“Only two of us play golf in the Madrid dressing room,” Bale joked. “So without a doubt, I am the number one in the team playing golf. Thibaut (Courtois) is the other one who also plays, but he is not better than me. Whenever I have the opportunity and there is a tournament close, I go to see it. I love the atmosphere, the public, the good weather and how well these guys play,”
“It is incredible how well they play for the pressure they have,” Bale explained. “Soccer is different because you have pressure, but you also have a referee. Golf is a much more mental game. I feel more pressure playing golf than in front of 80,000 spectators.”
