UEFA have appointed Serbian referee Srdjan Jovanović as the referee in charge of Real Madrid’s visit to Ukraine to face Shakhtar Donetsk, a game which will be played this Tuesday.
Per Realmadrid.com
Srdjan Jovanović will referee to game between Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk at the Kiev Olympic stadium, on matchday three of the Champions League Group Stage (Tuesday, 9 pm CET). It will be the second time that the Serbian takes charge of a game for our side in this competition.
The first time he did so was in last season’s Champions League Group Stage on matchday one, also against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Alfredo Di Stéfano.
This is a crucial game for Real Madrid considering that Ancelotti and his men need to bounce back from the disappointing home loss to Sheriff on their previous Champions League match. Furthermore, Los Blancos need to gain confidence and momentum as they will also play a key match this next weekend when they take on Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season.
