Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is edging closer towards making his return from the muscle injury he picked up last month. The Spanish right-back talked to Gol TV at Valdebebas and said that he’s hoping to complete his recovery in time for Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona.

Here’s how his exchange with Gol TV’s reporter happened:

-”Dani, how long until you’re back?”

-”Not much, not much.”

-”In time for El Clasico?”

-”El Clasico? We’ll see, I’m hoping to be in the squad list. I hope”

However, Carvajal would need to rejoin the squad by Friday if he wants to have a shot at making Madrid’s starting XI in such an important game, so right now he should still be considered questionable, even more so given his recent history of injuries.

His presence in the lineup would be huge, given that he’s the team’s only pure right-back. If he can’t make it in time for El Clasico, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho or Fede Valverde will be competing for that spot.
