Espanyol winger Adrian Embarba, a player who previously scored a winning goal against Real Madrid when he played for Rayo Vallecano, spoke to MARCA ahead of the Espanyol - Real Madrid game this afternoon.

Embarba spoke about what it takes to beat Real Madrid, among other things.

“In the end, our point of view is that if you play 100% against Real Madrid, you can win, as was seen on Tuesday in the Champions League,” Embarba said when asked about how his team viewed Real Madrid’s defeat against Sheriff. “In any case, it is not easy for a team like them to have two consecutive defeats, but, as I said in the first answer, we trust ourselves and our game ... And we have to try not to create options.”

Embarba was also asked about the several Espanyol players who “know what it takes” to beat this Real Madrid, and if that gives his team confidence. “Yes,” Embarba said. “That is why I say that we will do everything possible. As Rayo player we beat Madrid 1-0 with a goal of mine. You have to believe in the team.”

Finally, Embarba also spoke about his team’s desire to beat Real Madrid, and not merely score goals.

“We are clear that we want to beat Real Madrid, not just score,” Embarba explained. “But we are not the best when we win or the worst when we lose. We must follow the dynamics that we have shown in these games because, with the exception of one game, we have given good feelings.”
