Vicente Moreno’s Espanyol side put in an impressive performance as they beat Real Madrid 2 - 1 on Sunday evening.
Espanyol’s head coach spoke to the press after the game to discuss what the game meant for them.
“We must value that the rival in front of us makes everything that happens magnified,” Moreno said. “The victory has a lot of value, we are all excited to win against Madrid but, from there, it is still three points. It is always difficult count on them, you have to keep adding.“
Asked about whether or not the three points are valued differently because they were against Real Madrid, Moreno said: “Beating Real Madrid is always difficult, I am especially happy for the stage, people wanted to win and to see if we continue in this line. If we go that way and we want it so much together, we will have more options.”
Moreno also spoke in the presser about Karim Benzema’s goal, and how his team needed to react.
“When they score 2-1 you know that you will have to suffer in the final part and that anything can happen,” Moreno explained. “With that result of two goals away you take it with more peace of mind. If we scored the third and we would have been more calm, no it would be us.“
