Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has talked to the press about Florentino Perez’s quotes to Spanish newspaper El Debate, where the president said that there will be news about Mbappe next January and that Madrid were hoping to get “everything sorted out” by then.
Perez then corrected his own quotes and said that his words had been “misinterpreted.”
“My words were misinterpreted, I just said that we will have to wait until next year to find out what happens, always with the respect we have towards PSG.”
Even after that clarification from Perez, Leonardo went to the press and shared his feelings.
“These new quotes are disrespectful towards PSG and towards Mbappe. In fact, a Real Madrid player [Karim Benzema], the coach and now the president have been talking about Mbappe as if he were one of their own already, and in a span of just one week. Florentino had talked to the fans about Mbappe this week already and I repeat, this is so disrespectful that we can’t allow it,” he said.
Leonardo concluded his brief interview by saying that PSG still want Mbappe to extend his current contract, which will expire next summer.
“This has been going on for the last two years. I just want everyone to remember that the transfer window is over and that the season is being played. We have games and Real Madrid need to stop behaving like this. Make this stop! Mbappe is a PSG player and the club wants him to stay,” he concluded.
