David Aznar: “We have no excuse not to compete. We have built a squad to compete in four competitions.”

Aznar spoke with optimism ahead of Real Madrid’s debut in the Champions League proper vs. WFC Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv.

Real Madrid Femenino will debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League’s first ever group stage tomorrow on October 5th. Every single UWCL match is being streamed for free on DAZN’s YouTube channel.

Las Blancas are going up against Ukrainian team WFC Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv and David Aznar spoke about the game in his pre-match press conference.

We know the team [Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv] because we have been analyzing [them]. They have shown great quality to reach the group stages. They are a balanced team that are very fast in transitions and dominate in set-pieces.

To play at home is always an advantage for the local team. We know that tomorrow it will be a difficult match because we’ll be playing our first game away from home in a complicated pitch against a good opponent. But we come with enthusiasm and with the desire to have a good performance — like we did in Manchester — to obtain all three points.

Aznar also spoke earlier about how the team has no excuse to compete and how the front office has built a squad to be able to “compete in four competitions.”
