UD Cornella vs Real Madrid Castilla Match Preview

Real Madrid Castilla travel to Camp Municipal De Cornella to face UE Cornella on Friday, 7pm local time.

Castilla are in the search of a crucial win on the road, having lost all of their three games away from home. The first was a 2-1 loss to Balompedica Linense, then a 3-0 humbling at UCAM Murcia and a 2-0 defeat at Albacete.

Castilla sit in 14th position in the league standings, with two wins and a draw at home getting them to seven points. Winning this game is a must in more ways than one. It will give the team confidence to play with more intensity if they get close to the playoff positions.

Their opponents, UE Cornella, have an identical record, but sit in 12th place due to their superior goal difference. They haven’t had the best start to the season, either, which is why they’d want to win it about as much as Castilla.

However, the thing to note about Cornella is that they’re unbeaten in their two games at home, as well as being undefeated in their last two games in general. They defeated Linares Deportive 3-0 in their last fixture, and drew 1-1 at home vs Castellon before that.

Castilla managed to get a point out of their last league fixture — a 2-2 draw vs Atletico Baleares. Goals from Sergio Arribas and Andri Gudjohnsen weren’t enough to secure the win against a tough Baleares side, in a game from which Castilla probably deserved more than just a point. That result makes this game all the more crucial.

Castilla would be without a bunch of players, either because of injuries (Mario Gila Fuentes, Pablo Ramon, etc.) or because of international call-ups (Miguel Gutierrez, Andri Gudjohnsen, etc.) Most of the players that played for Castilla last time around should still be able to take their place in the squad for the game against Cornella.

Castilla would be facing Cornella for the first time in history. The game will not be shown on RMTV, so if you’re from Europe, you’d have to either get a Footters subscription or watch it on-demand on their site.
