Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has once again talked to the press about the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga. Leonardo attended an event hosted by La Gazzetta Dello Sport and expressed his frustration about the situation.
“They [Real Madrid] refute this claim, but I believe they have been working to sign Mbappe as a free agent for quite some time. They’ve been talking publicly about Mbappe for the last two years and this should be punished. I think it’s disrespectful, Kylian is not an ordinary player, he’s one of the world’s greatest. Their coach, the board, the Real Madrid players have talked about him and I think it’s part of their plan. It’s not respectful,” said Leonardo.
Even though most fans and analysts expect Mbappe to sign for Madrid as a free agent as soon as he’s allowed to, Leonardo is not willing to give up.
“Our plan is to extend Kylian Mbappe’s contract, nothing changed our plans. He’s a gem, he’s perfect for PSG. We have Kylian, Messi and Neymar and we never considered PSG’s future without Mbappe,” concluded Leonardo.
It looks like this transfer saga will keep going until the very end of the 2021-2022 season, given that it’s unlikely that any announcement becomes official in the middle of the ongoing campaign. Expect more quotes from all parts involved over the next few months.
