UEFA have appointed French referee Benoit Bastien as the man in charge of Wednesday’s clash between Real Madrid and Shakhtar in the Champions League. It will be the fourth game of the 2021-2022 Group Stage.
Per Realmadrid.com
Benoît Bastien will officiate Real Madrid-Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League group stage matchday four game at the Santiago Bernabéu (Wednesday, 6:45pm CET). The Frenchman will referee our team for the second time in this competition.
The first match was against APOEL at the Santiago Bernabéu, in the 2017/18 Champions League group stage matchday one encounter.
Real Madrid are currently sitting second in their group so they have to beat Shakhtar to maximize their chances of winning the group and advance to the Round of 16 as a seeded team. Los Blancos are the heavy favorites to win the game but as Sheriff Tiraspol proved, there’s no such thing as an easy game in the European competition.
