Shakhtar Donetsk defender Marlon Santos, who sees his team play against Real Madrid Wednesday night at the Bernabeu, spoke to Radio Marca about the upcoming matchup, as well to reflect on their loss to Los Merengues at home by five goals in the previous matchday.

“We were unlucky to lose 0-5,” Marlon said. “For us it was a very big pain, and we hope to erase that image we have left behind and get points here at the Bernabéu. Real Madrid is one of the best clubs in the world, but we want to win.”

Marlon also spoke about the damage his fellow countryman, Vinicius, did against them in Kiev.

“In Brazil we already knew that Vinícius was and is a great player,” Marlon explained. “Now he is living a great moment and we hope that tomorrow he will not have the great moment he had against us in Kiev; and that it is our players who are as inspired as he is. He’s showing that he can be a great player at Real Madrid.”

Marlon also discussed Vinicius’s omission from the Brazilian National Team.

“Tite believes in him. It is true that there are other great players in the National Team and Vinícius is very young. He is living a great moment, but Tite knows perfectly when to do things.”
