Real Madrid release new video highlighting renovated Bernabeu’s retractable pitch

Real Madrid released a video showcasing the retractable pitch system that is part of the Bernabeu’s renovation project (MARCA).

The over 5-minute video showcases how the football pitch will be able to interchange with other surface types. This will allow the Bernabeu to host other events such as concerts and basketball games while maintaining the condition of the pitch.

The storage facility underneath the surface will reportedly contain ventilation, irrigation and lighting therapy that will preserve the maintenance and quality of the pitch while not in use, according to MARCA’s report.

The Bernabeu will also reportedly be catching up with many new stadiums around the world allowing supporters to mobile order food and drinks from their seats. The renovated stadium will also reportedly feature five restaurants with views of the match.

The Santiago Bernabeu renovation project is scheduled to be completed in 2022 while Real Madrid are currently playing all home matches at the stadium.
