Real Madrid released new videos today outlining the many upgrades included as part of the stadium renovations. The Bernabeu will go from an asset used once or twice a week to a 365-day-year event center and attraction. Top class restaurants, shopping centers, concerts, NFL games, NBA basketball games, tennis — all of this and more can be hosted at the Santiago Bernabeu once the stadium is complete.

The club has now asked its members to come together on November 20th to prepare the budget for the following season. Included in the budget, will be a vote to potentially increase the stadium remodeling work to, “finance works not initially included in the remodeling of the stadium,” according to a quote pulled from MARCA.

The additional funds will be for the technology enhancements under the retractable grass field. A complex ventilation and climate system, LED heat lamps, a controlled watering system, and ultraviolet light treatment are all going to be added to provide the best pitch possible.

The enhancements will likely bring the 30 year finance repayment total of €29M to €35M. The stadium is projected to bring in over €100M per year and Real Madrid are expected to be the first club to generate €1 billion in revenue. With these enhancements Real Madrid ensures that it can host events 365 days out of the year and maintain one of the best football pitches in all of world football. The cost increase is an expansion of the project, with Madrid expected to maximize every inch of their new stadium.
