Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric were named into the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Team of the Decade. With those four players, Real Madrid were the team with more representatives in the XI, which also features former Madrid player and legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Neuer, Lahm, Van Dijk, Iniesta, Messi and Lewandowski complete the team.
Together, Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric and also Cristiano Ronaldo dominated European football for the last decade, winning four Champions League titles alongside their teammates in Real Madrid. They all deserve to be in the XI and will be considered legends of the club when they leave.
Although Real Madrid will definitely have to move on from that core of players sooner rather than later given their age, every single football fan and pundit should acknowledge this great generation of talent that coexisted. It won’t be easy for Madrid to replicate this era.
