Bayern Munich CEO talked to Sky Sports and shared some thoughts about the future of his player David Alaba, who is set to become a free agent next summer and appears to have received interest to join Real Madrid.

“From January 2nd Alaba can sign for any club he wants. I don’t know if he’ll eventually reach an agreement with Real Madrid but they’re a big club and I can understand why it’s interesting for him,” said Rummenigge.

The former player went on and added that Real Madrid have not talked to Bayern about the situation.

“Florentino hasn’t talked to us and he doesn’t have to do it. The fact that they are going through a tough time right now, they’re still a big club and we have to understand the player,” concluded Bayern’s CEO.

Some reports from Germany suggest that Alaba could’ve already signed for Real Madrid, but his own father denied those rumors, so it will be interesting to see if the talented defender joins the club next summer.
