Real Madrid have been scouting Sporting Braga center-back David Carmo in recent weeks, according to a report published today on AS. The Portuguese defender could leave his club for €25 million, per that same report.
Carmo is 21 years old and was close to joining Liverpool during the past winter transfer window as manager Jurgen Klopp tried to find a replacement for Virgil Van Dijk who is currently injured and will be expected to miss most —if not all— of the 2020-2021 season.
David Carmo appears to be one of the most promising defenders in the Portuguese league. However, he is expected to miss the next three months after fracturing his foot a week ago. This injury would not affect Madrid’s interest, per AS’ report.
Los Blancos have been scouting the market in search of a central defender for quite some time, given Sergio Ramos’ age and contract situation. Players like David Alaba, Pau Torres or Dayot Upamecano have been in Madrid’s radar for quite some time, and now David Carmo has been added to that list of names.
