Vinicius called to apologize to Zidane after his actions following his exclusion from the Champions League starting lineup against Manchester City, according to a new report from AS.

According to the report, Vinicius was upset that Zidane had not given him the start in the away leg. The 20-year-old decided to stay in the locker room alongside Marcelo on their cell phones rather than join the other substitutes on the sideline.

Zidane reportedly did not say anything to the duo, but did not consider either of them for substitution. Vinicius reportedly stepped up and called Zidane to apologize for his immaturity and behavior.

This reportedly had an affect because AS says Zidane told Vinicius he would receive opportunities to prove himself if he showed good work ethic in training.

Whatever the pair spoke about clearly worked because Vinicius has been given ample time to prove himself on the pitch this season. It has a lot to do with Eden Hazard missing much of this season due to injury, but Vinicius has essentially been a lock to start on the left wing in his absence.

Vinicius has featured in 20 La Liga matches this season, 11 of those being starts. He has scored two league goals and two assists. He has also scored a goal and an assist in six Champions League matches played.

If this report is true then it shows big character from a young player in Vinicius to own blame and apologize for it. He took it upon himself to reach out and make amends. It seems like it was a good opportunity to grow.
