Real Madrid managed to beat Valladolid 0-1 after a late goal by Casemiro. Los Blancos are now three points behind Atletico de Madrid, although Simeone’s men have a game at hand which could place them six points ahead. Casemiro talked to the press after the game and explained why he believes his team is now in the race for the 2020-2021 La Liga title.

“We believe that we’re in the race for La Liga and we know that every game’s important. We’ve got 42 points left to play for, that’s a lot of points. This squad knows it’s difficult, but we believe that we’re in the race for La Liga,” said Casemiro.

The midfielder also praised the whole team after he was asked about Thibaut Courtois’ efforts. The goalkeeper completed a brilliant performance yet Casemiro wanted to highlight the team effort.

“It’s a credit to the whole team. We’re all ready, and everyone contributed. Everyone knows that we’ve all got an important role to play. I’m not surprised by Thibaut’s saves, he’s a great goalkeeper, but we can’t just focus on one player after a win like this. Everyone has to be praised,” he added.

Madrid have now won their last four games ven after all the injuries they suffered during the last month.

“This run of four consecutive wins is important, especially because of the players that we’ve got out, as they’re very important for us. We hope to have them back as soon as possible because we’re counting on them,” concluded the midfielder.

The team will now visit Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of 16 next Wednesday.
