Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta talked in an interview with Spanish news agency Agencia EFE and shared his thoughts about the many injuries former teammate Eden Hazard has had since the Belgian attacker completed his signing for Real Madrid.
“Eden is a great friend of mine and of course it hurts me to see him like this because he can’t show his quality, especially when he rarely missed a game here at Chelsea. He was a very consistent player and was always available no matter how many times he was kicked,” said Azpilicueta.
The defender also had an optimistic approach about the whole situation, saying that Hazard will be able to turn things around and make an impact.
“Seeing that he can’t have that kind of consistency and continuity hurts me and I know it hurts him as well. He has that chip on his shoulder and there’s no doubt in my mind and once he’s able to play three or four consecutive games he will showcase his talent. His dream was to play for Real Madrid and he wants to prove he can do it,” concluded Azpilicueta.
Hazard did some light work during Sunday’s training session and could rejoin the squad in the next few days, although coach Zinedine Zidane is expected to take a very cautious approach once the attacker is ready to play, given his recent history with injuries.
