UEFA have appointed German referee Tobias Stieler as the man in charge of Real Madrid’s away match against Atalanta in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16. It will be the second time he’s officiated a match involving Real Madrid.
Per Realmadrid.com’s report:
Tobias Stieler will referee the Champions League round of 16 first leg clash between Atalanta and Real Madrid at the Bergamo Stadium (Wednesday, 9pm CET). The German will take charge of Zidane’s side for the second time in this competition.
The first time he refereed Real Madrid was in the 2019/20 season, in the last matchday of the group stage against Brugge at the Jan Breydel stadium (1-3).
Atalanta have been fairly mediocre so far this season but have managed to pick it up lately. They are dangerous attacking team, so Real Madrid will need to be very careful considering that Ramos and Carvajal will both miss the game.
