Real Madrid face Atalanta on Wednesday night and Zinedine Zidane is looking forward to the match, even with the nine absences he has through injury.
Previewing the match in his press conference, Zidane said: “I hope we play like we have done in LaLiga recently. We know the kind of match that lies ahead. Everyone is talking about our injuries, but we’re just thinking about the players we have available. We always go out to win and we’ll only be happy with a win.”
Several youth teamers are in the squad because of the injuries and Zidane was asked what it it like for an academy player to come into the first team. He replied: ”To make it, a youth teamer has to play. But sometimes that is difficult. There are many players in this process right now. The important thing is that they eventually make it to the top division. Then, making it at Real Madrid is more difficult. But, it can happen.”
Finally, Zidane discussed the opponents and was asked if Atalanta are like the Ajax team that eliminated Real Madrid two years ago. On that, he said:”This team is very good in attack and they’re good physically as well. I don’t like to compare teams, but I know it will be a good game.”
