Real Madrid are visiting Atalanta tonight in the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of 16. Los Blancos should be considered the favorites to go through and play the Quarterfinals but at the same time they will be missing key players like Ramos, Benzema or Carvajal, so coach Zinedine Zidane won’t be able to rely on depth.
Atalanta are a powerful offensive team and that doesn’t match well with Real Madrid’s injured players at the back line. Lucas Vazquez, Varane, Nacho and Mendy will have to take care of business and try to keep a clean sheet, something which would make the job much easier when Atalanta visit the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano in March.
Then, most of the players who are currently injured will likely be ready to play, so a solid result today would be extremely important for Los Blancos, especially after the momentum and confidence they’ve gained in recent weeks.
