Reinier Jesus, the 19-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder on loan from Real Madrid at Borussia Dortmund, scored his first goal in the Bundesliga today. Reinier has gradually been earning more minutes for the black and yellow and took advantage of his latest opportunity. A lightening quick counter-attack, which originated from good interplay between Thorgan Hazard and Reinier, ended with the Brazilian galloping up the pitch and tapping home an easy one-time finish:

Reinier Jesus’ has had to bide his time with Borussia Dortmund — battling injuries, COVID, and adaptation to Germany and the European game. It seems the teenager has finally started to find his feet and this goal could help kick-start his career for Edin Terzic’s team.

This summer Reinier Jesus will have the opportunity to represent his country in the Olympics. A good showing coupled with a positive end to the current season, could see the Brazilian play a more prominent role with his second year at the German club. Similar to the Achraf Hakimi deal, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund agreed on a two-year loan deal. Reinier will be determined to leave a lasting impression next season in order to secure a return to his parent club.
