There may be light at the end of the tunnel for young Reinier Jesus. Borussia Dortmund interim head coach, Edin Terzic, has suggested that minutes may be available to the Brazilian in the near future. The Dortmund coach spoke to the press ahead of Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash with Freiburg at the weekend, and spoke highly of Reinier Jesus.
“He [Reinier] is a very talented player who works hard on himself. He definitely deserves the chance in the near future. He has earned it,” the coach revealed.
Echoing those statements, Michael Zorc — Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director — has denied any suggestions that the loan would be cut short in January. “We basically don’t want to give him up,” Zorc told reporters. “If someone is dissatisfied because he has too few opportunities, then you talk to each other, but we will not take the initiative ourselves.”
Reinier Jesus has played a mere 136 minutes for Borussia Dortmund this season, a substitute in all 8 of his matches. The player has struggled with injuries, coronavirus, and an overall struggle adapting to Germany and the European game, but it seems he has now impressed Terzic in training. All eyes will be on this Saturday’s match vs Freiburg in anticipation and hope of some Reinier minutes.
