Real Madrid’s previous match against Huesca was a tough one because of the injuries, which resulted in Los Blancos only having two first-team players sitting on the bench. More of the same can be said today, given that Odriozola, Kroos and Militao will miss the game.
That will force coach Zidane to play Mendy as a right-back with Marcelo on the left, while Isco will start in the midfield alongside Casemiro and Modric. Striker Mariano Diaz will be the only first-team player waiting to come off the bench, with young players from Castilla like Antonio Blanco, Diego Arribas or Marvin Park waiting for a precious chance of getting some quality minutes if Zidane needs them.
Getafe have been a somewhat mediocre team this season after playing brilliant football and getting good results a year ago, almost achieving what would’ve been a historic spot to play Champions League football until the very last few weeks of the campaign.
Still, Madrid will have to be creative to get the win tonight.
