Martin Ødegaard has had himself a great week. After scoring his first goal for Arsenal on Thursday, reports have come out that the midfield magician will officially be named the new captain of the Norwegian national team by coach, Stale Solbakken. At 22-years-old, Martin Ødegaard will lead out an exciting new generation of footballers which includes the likes of Erling Haaland, Jan Petter Hauge, Alexander Sorloth, and Sander Berge.

Mikel Arteta recently came out and praised Ødegaard, calling him a “young leader” on the pitch. When watching Arsenal’s #11 plays, he is often directing teammates and demanding the ball, even in the most difficult or pressure-filled situations. The same was true of the Norwegian while at Real Sociedad.

The news of the captaincy will only further enhance Ødegaard’s confidence after a positive week. With the North London Derby awaiting this weekend, the Norwegian will look to take the positive momentum into the weekend.
