Real Madrid’s hopes of conquering the 2020-2021 La Liga title have all but vanished after their last two draws and Atletico’s win against Athletic Bilbao. Los Blancos are now eight points behind their neighbors and two behind Barça, which means that their odds of winning La Liga are not very high right now.

Still, Real Madrid can use these games to build confidence and momentum for the Champions League. Zidane’s men will be hosting Atalanta in the crucial return leg of the Round of 16 next Tuesday and they need to find some consistency and quality of play if they want to succeed in the European competition.

Eden Hazard and Sergio Ramos are both back with the squad having recovered from their injuries but their presence in the starting lineup doesn’t seem very likely considering that their conditioning will be far from ideal.

All things considered, this match seems to be the right opportunity for Madrid to be right on track.
