Real Madrid Undefeated in Last Ten Matches against Atletico Madrid in La Liga

Although the 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid was not an ideal result for Real Madrid as the former maintained their advantage on the table, the result meant that Los Blancos now haven’t suffered a loss in the last ten editions of the derbi madrileño in the league.

This record dates back to November 2016 when Ramos and co began their unbeaten run. This covers a period of over four years and exceeding 10 hours worth of time on the field — which is a testament to the stability the club has had in the derby. This is particularly true when compared to previous years when results were much more shaky. It’s a positive anecdote as the Colchoneros have been and continue to be a formidable adversary and a constant thorn in the side of their neibhbors for over a decade now.

Over the stretch of ten undefeated matches, Casemiro — who was at the heart of Real Madrid’s comeback on Sunday with a perfectly played assist to Benzema — has accumulated the second most goals and assists (two goals and one assist). Interestingly, there is no active forward or winger other than Benzema that features on the list. Ronaldo sits in first place and remains the highest contributor despite leaving at the end of 2017-18.

Lastly, Zinedine Zidane also extended his personal unbeaten run in away league matches against Atletico Madrid as Real Madrid manager. He has yet to lose against Diego Simeone’s men in La Liga as a visitor since he first took charge in 2016. The club will hope that salvaging a draw in the most recent derby will prove consequential in their quest to retain the domestic crown.
