Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos played five minutes on Spain’s win against Kosovo and talked to the press after the game, where he was asked about his potential contract extension with the club.

“My future is a bit aside right now, there are no news and when we have news I will be the first to tell them. I’m focused on playing at my best,” said Ramos.

While reports from the Spanish press suggest that the extension was close after some tough months of negotiations between both parts, no more news have been published.

“I was clear about my future the last time I talked to the press. Now I’m focused on my return to the team because our season is at stake in a week’s time. I hope we can get good results, the games will be fun for football fans and we hope to be ready,” he concluded.

Ramos is 35 years old and is hoping to get a two-year extension with Real Madrid. He has just recovered from knee surgery and appears ready to start and make and impact against Liverpool in the Champions League Quarterfinals.
