PSG’s Kylian Mbappe recently spoke with French outlet RMC Sport where he hit out against some of the criticism he has received while playing in France.
“The constant criticism in France is tiring, especially when you play for a club in your country and give everything for your national team too.”
“It’s different for players who play abroad. It will of course be a factor in the decision for my future here along with other factors.”
It’s no surprise that this could play into his decision to re-sign with PSG and whether or not he stays in his native France past his current contract. As of yet, there still doesn’t appear to be significant progress made on an extension between the two sides.
There’s probably immense pressure on Mbappe playing in his home country and for the biggest club in Ligue 1. That being said, if Real Madrid is a destination, the Spanish media isn’t that much better when it comes to constant criticism.
With the price tag that is likely to come with any Mbappe transfer, there will be intense focus and pressure on him to put up consistent performances. Being branded as a generational talent no doubt comes with its share of intensity.
