Erling Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola talked to the press this Monday and revealed that Borussia Dortmund will not sell the talented attacker this summer, even though there’s strong interest from many clubs, Real Madrid included.

“I can confirm I was in Dortmund to talk. [Sporting director] Michael Zorc let us know very clearly that Borussia Dortmund don’t want to sell Haaland this summer. I respect that opinion but it doesn’t mean that I agree with it. Borussia were very clear about their mindset and approach and we agree about that,” said Raiola.

If Haaland ends up staying in Dortmund for another season, it looks like his €75 million release clause will kick in in 2022, which will make him an affordable target for most elite clubs in European football. That release clause can’t be triggered this next summer, so Dortmund would be losing money if they decide not to sell Haaland in 2021.

Right now, it looks like Dortmund might not even clinch their presence in the 2021-2022 edition of the Champions League, so they will likely keep Haaland around for another season as they try to return to the European competition next campaign.
