Zidane: “LaLiga doesn’t finish today, there are five games left”

The coach isn’t giving up in the title race.

Real Madrid dropped two points against Real Betis on Saturday night and Zinedine Zidane was, logically, in a tetchy mood in his post-match press conference.

Analysing the game, he said: “We’ve lost two points. We were very good defensively, but we lacked a lot offensively. We lost the ball a lot. We lacked something up front today. Now, we now to recover well after losing these two points. We have five matches left in LaLiga, but there’s a long way left. If LaLiga were to end today then we’d lose it. But, LaLiga doesn’t finish today. There are five more games. The other teams in the race have to play as well. “

Pressed on his feeling after this draw, he was annoyed at the suggestion that Real Madrid are playing so much worse now than they were at the start of the month. The coach said: “Every time we lose a point it’s as if we’re very bad. We just need to recover well and think about Tuesday. I’m sure it’ll be the most complicated game of the season. We’re ready for those kinds of games, though.”

Finally, the coach was asked about the return of Eden Hazard. On the Belgian, he said: “He was very good. I’m happy. It was good for him to come back. We know the quality he has.”
