Devastating news for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has suffered a big hamstring injury during Tuesday’s clash against Chelsea and will miss the rest of the season. Carvajal made his return to the starting lineup last Tuesday after recovering from a previous injury, but now he will be forced to miss even more games. He appeared to have suffered the injury during the game but ended up playing through it.

Carvajal has been very injury-prone in recent years and Real Madrid don’t have an obvious replacement for him, given that backup right-back Alvaro Odriozola has been a liability on defense every time he’s been given the chance.

This leaves Real Madrid in a very tough spot for Wednesday’s return leg in London. Starting left-back Ferland Mendy is still questionable for that game, so Nacho could be needed on the left flank of the defensive line. Sergio Ramos rejoined the squad in training today and should be available, so Militao will likely be the one replacing Dani Carvajal against Chelsea.
