Bayern Munich’s David Alaba is set to sign with Real Madrid as a free agent in May, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He will reportedly sign for €12 million per season, though the term length does not appear to be disclosed as of yet. Many initial reports had Alaba’s pre-contract length lasting until 2025.

Romano says that Real have always been the frontrunner to sign the Austrian international, who was set to be a free agent this summer. The 28-year-old is dynamic as he can play several different defensive positions, which is a need for the club as they’ve dealt with injuries to the defense all season.

Alaba has been with Bayern Munich since 2010 and spent time with their youth system. He has made over 400 appearances for the club and has been a main fixture in their defense. He’s won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies in that span.

He has also made over 70 caps for the Austrian national team. Now the 28-year-old gets a chance to further his career and legacy at Real Madrid when this deal is reportedly signed.
