Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane seems to be on his way out of the club this next summer. His current deal with the club expires in 2022 and he doesn’t seem interested in extending that contract, so Madrid will be forced to sell him unless they want to lose him for free a year from now.

In that context, Manchester United are ready to offer €45 million for Varane this summer, according to a report from Diario AS. Real Madrid will not sell the player for less than €70 million, per that same report, so United’s offer will be rejected and the British side will have to improve it if they want to sign Varane.

Madrid would ultimately like to extend Varane’s deal and will try to reach some kind of agreement so that the defender can stay for many years to come. However, Varane seems be keen on choosing a new path for his career, so an understanding might not be as likely as most fans would want.

Varane’s potential departure would leave Real Madrid in a tough spot if Sergio Ramos leaves the club as well, even if David Alaba ends up joining the club as a free agent this summer.
