Real Madrid have announced on their website that midfielder Toni Kroos has tested positive for Covid-19, which means that he will miss the last game of the season against Villarreal.
Real Madrid C. F. announces that our player, Toni Kroos, tested positive in the COVID-19 test he underwent today. Kroos has been in isolation since Friday 14 May after having come into direct contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
Kroos will now try to recover in time for the upcoming UEFA Euro, although it seems clear that he should be available by then. The midfielder is expected to be a key player for Germany and the UEFA Euro could be his last tournament for the German national team, as a report published on Bild early this year suggested that he was going to retire from international football to focus on Real Madrid for the last years of his career.
Kroos had one of his best seasons as a Real Madrid player and his presence will be missed against Villarreal. Los Blancos need to get the three points there and then hope that Atletico drop points against Valladolid in order to conquer the 2020-2021 La Liga title.
