Kroos will now try to recover in time for the upcoming UEFA Euro, although it seems clear that he should be available by then. The midfielder is expected to be a key player for Germany and the UEFA Euro could be his last tournament for the German national team, as a report published on Bild early this year suggested that he was going to retire from international football to focus on Real Madrid for the last years of his career.
Kroos had one of his best seasons as a Real Madrid player and his presence will be missed against Villarreal. Los Blancos need to get the three points there and then hope that Atletico drop points against Valladolid in order to conquer the 2020-2021 La Liga title.
