Player Ratings
Thibaut Courtois — 6/10: Courtois wasn’t tested much against Osasuna. The Belgian was forced into a leaping save by a mishit cross and parried a shot from outside the 18-yard box.
Raphael Varane — 6/10: Varane was safe on the ball and cut out danger at the back. He was replaced at halftime by Nacho.
Eder Militao — 9/10: Militao was imperious on the day. He forced Courtois into a difficult situation with an early back pass but didn’t put a foot wrong for the rest of the match. Militao made important challenges and got on the end of almost every set-piece. His header opened the scoring for Los Blancos.
Alvaro Odriozola — 6.5/10: Odriozola got up and down the right flank well and was good on both sides of the ball. He routinely had space to run at the backline and delivered dangerous crosses.
Marcelo — 6/10: Marcelo played at left-back but operated high up the pitch on the left flank and sometimes on the left side of the midfield. He provided a great cross to Eden Hazard in the first half. Marcelo was replaced by Miguel Gutierrez in the 64th minute.
Casemiro — 7.5/10: A lot of Real Madrid’s build-up went through the Brazilian. He displayed his ability to spray passes across the pitch to switch the point of attack and launch the team forward. His defensive presence was important and he added the second goal of the match.
Antonio Blanco — 8/10: Blanco put in a complete midfield performance. He was good in possession and broke up Osasuna attacks all over the pitch. He recovered the ball well and helped dictate the tempo of the match.
Marco Asensio — 6/10: Asensio provided a pinpoint ball to the head of Militao that forced the Osasuna keeper into a fingertip save. He tracked back well but struggled to create danger in the final third.
Vinicius Jr. — 6.5/10: Vinicius Jr. struggled to get at the backline because of the lack of space he was afforded by the Osasuna defense. He was fed through on goal by Asensio and fired his shot wide from a difficult angle. He grew into the match in the second half but was replaced by Rodrygo in the 64th minute.
Eden Hazard — 7/10: Hazard looked solid through his 72 minutes of action. He pulled off some nice flicks and ran at the defense well. Hazard had the opportunity to get on the scoresheet but was denied by a good save in the 26th minute.
Karim Benzema — 7/10: Benzema looked a little off-color throughout the match. He dropped into midfield and drifted around the pitch to help Real Madrid create overloads. Benzema did not make his usual impact for the majority of the match but he performed well at the end, providing the assist to Casemiro’s goal.

Nacho Fernandez — 6/10: Nacho replaced Varane at halftime. He had one bad giveaway that Militao dealt with and performed well for the rest of the second half.
Miguel Gutierrez — 6/10: Gutierrez came on in the 64th minute for Marcelo. He patrolled the left well and had good moments going forward and defensively.
Rodrygo — 7/10: Rodrygo was also introduced in the 64th minute. He played on the right wing and created a lot of danger. He almost opened the scoring after a good run through the middle but he dragged his shot just wide.
