Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has signed a single-year extension with the club, Madrid announced on their official website.

Real Madrid's statement:
Real Madrid C.F. and Luka Modrić have signed a contract extension which will see the player remain at the club until 30 June 2022.

Modric will turn 36 years old next September and might be facing his last contract with Real Madrid, although his performances and importance for the team during the 2020-2021 make him a valuable asset going forward and another extension shouldn't be ruled out if he is willing to accept a role off the bench in the future.

The midfielder signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2012 and became an undisputed starter ever since Carlo Ancelotti took over as the coach in 2013, winning a Ballon D'Or in 2018.

Modric can surely be considered one of the best midfielders to ever play the game and certainly one of the best to ever wear Real Madrid's jersey.
