This one is still far from reaching any kind of serious traction, but worth posting because logically, it makes some sense to make a move for someone like Buffon.

According to a report from Todofichajes, Real Madrid are looking for a back-up for Thibaut Courtois as Andriy Lunin wants to go somewhere to play and develop his career. That same report also states that Gianluigi Buffon has emerged as a candidate to fill the role that Lunin would leave.

Buffon, on the surface, makes sense as a candidate. He is set to leave Juventus this summer, and at this stage of his career, a big club won’t be giving him a starting role. But he is a footballing legend, and has always shown Real Madrid respect off the pitch, and has a very good relationship with Iker Casillas, who is a current staff member of the club. Buffon wouldn’t play much, but could fill in here and there in any games Courtios is unable to, and would provide a good presence in the locker room.
