Real Madrid Femenino drew 1-1 to Sporting Huelva on Sunday in an entirely uninspiring performance. Las Blancas were lucky they weren’t behind in the first half after Misa was forced into multiple saves and Huelva missed a penalty. Real Madrid took the lead with a great team goal finished by Olga Carmona, but were unable to make adjustments in the second half. Huelva leveled and Las Blancas had no answer.
Player Ratings
Misa — 7/10: Misa was forced into save after save and came up big almost every time. She was forced to come off her line repeatedly and she did well in every instance except one. Misa gave away a penalty kick but Sporting Huelva were unable to convert.
Kenti Robles — 6/10: Kenti Robles was adequate defensively but was caught upfield at times and slipped, which allowed Yoko Tanaka a chance on goal. Her service in the final third was good. Robles repeatedly found Las Blancas attackers but none of them could finish.
Babett Peter — 6.5/10: Peter was solid defensively. She had to get involved in many 1v1 duels and was all over the pitch covering for her teammates. Peter was unable to stop the cross that led to the equalizer and didn’t do enough in the lead up to the penalty.
Claudia Florentino — 5.5/10: Florentino struggled in this match. She gave the ball away in dangerous areas multiple times, leading to chances for Huelva. On the positive side, Florentino also made some crucial interventions.
Marta Corredera — 6/10: Corredera was involved throughout the match. Coach David Aznar deployed her on the left wing and she cut inside on her strong foot. Corredera was unaware of where she should position herself at times but she had some nice moments and good passes.
Aurélie Kaci — 7/10: Despite an underwhelming performance from the team, Kaci was strong. She was good in possession and most of Las Blancas’ possession play went through her early. Kaci was also good defensively, winning the ball back and sparking counter-attacks. She did have a bad giveaway that led to the goal.
Maite Oroz — 6/10: Oroz struggled early in the match. She lost possession uncharacteristically but grew into the match, though she was never able to have her usual influence.
Olga Carmona — 6.5/10: Olga got up and down the left flank but was not as impactful as she could’ve been. Even though she was caught upfield at times, Olga put Las Blancas ahead to cap off a beautiful passage of play in the first half.
Kosovare Asllani — 6/10: Asllani looked lively to start the match but her influence slowed as the match progressed. Asllani had multiple headed chances she was unable to steer on target.
Sofia Jakobsson — 6/10: Early in the match Jakobsson kept getting on the end of crosses but her touches let her down. She provided the assist for Olga Carmona’s goal.
Marta Cardona — 6/10: Like Asllani, Cardona looked active early. She provided a nice cross to Jakobsson and had a shot saved from a tight angle in the 15th minute. Cardona had bright moments throughout the rest of the match but couldn’t put it all together today.
