Real Madrid have confirmed that defender Raphael Varane suffers a groin injury and will miss Wednesday’s match against Chelsea. Varane picked up that injury during the first half of Saturday’s game against Osasuna. He completed the first half but was forced to leave the match at half-time.
Following the tests carried out today on our player Raphaël Varane by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the right abductor muscle. His recovery will be monitored.

This is worrying news for Madrid given their lack of depth on defense for the crucial return leg. Mendy rejoined the squad in training today and while Ramos will be available, he hasn’t played a single minute since he picked up a muscle injury during the past FIFA break. Furthermore, Valverde —who could play as a right-back— hasn’t tested negative for Covid-19 just yet.
If both Ramos and Mendy are ready to start, expect Militao and the captain to start in the center of the defensive line with Mendy and Nacho on the flanks.
