Mauricio Pochettino has asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report from Mario Cortegana of Goal Espana.
The Argentine coach is sought after by both Real Madrid and his former club, Tottenham Hotspur. Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez have both been long admirers of Pochettino’s work. Both executives tried to secure Pochettino’s signature the last time Zidane departed the club as manager.
Pochettino has publicly flirted with Real Madrid in the past. His most recent statements, claiming he would love to coach Madrid one day, came just days after being appointed as manager of PSG. The Real Madrid job would be a dream for Poch, but everything now rests in PSG’s hands.
Real Madrid do not want to create any friction in regards to their relationship with the Qatari-owned club. Since PSG became a state-owned club, Madrid have been very careful in dealing with the French club as not to ignite a Neymar like transfer-war. Pochettino’s request, just a mere 6 months after taking the job, may ignite a feud of the manager does ultimately end up at Madrid.
