Zinedine Zidane will reportedly release an open letter to Real Madrid fans. The manager, whose departure from the club was made official three days ago, is expected to speak to the reasons he is leaving. There have been several rumours regarding possible disagreements and tension behind the scenes related to transfers, the roster and lack of support for the coach.

After an incredibly tough season, in which Madrid fought to the end in the LaLiga and made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League, the coach has decided to leave the club. A trophy-less season is tough to bear at the Bernabéu. “I understand football and I know the demands of a club like Real Madrid. I know when you don’t win, you have to leave,” says the coach, adding: “I’m not jumping overboard, nor am I tired of coaching. I would have liked my relationship with the club and the president over the past few months to have been a little different.” AS English

Fans will likely be eager to gain some insight into what led to Zidane’s decision as he is an icon of the club and seemed to be the most logical fit to continue leading the team. The open letter will also be particularly enlightening as the club has appeared to support the manager publicly with club officials and Florentino Perez himself talking about Zidane positively at various occasions this season. Depending on the nature of the latter, this could be first time that there is any form of friction between Zidane and the club (at least out in the open).
