Per a report from Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Lucas Vazquez — whose contract with Real Madrid ends this summer — has turned down interest from Atletico Madrid, a team that is looking to strengthen its depth at the right wing position.

Vazquez, who is close to signing a contract extension with Real Madrid, is a loyal Real Madrid player, and jumping ship to cross-town rivals Atletico would be an unthinkable scenario for him. He has long turned down offers to start at other clubs, just to be the ‘next man up’ at Real Madrid. He values his loyalty to the club.

Per the AS report, the only destination that Vazquez would consider outside of Real Madrid is AC Milan — a club he respects and one that could offer him a good salary and a valuable / prominent role with the team. The report also states that one important factor in Vazquez’s future is Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid captain (whose future is also in limbo) has a close friendship and influence on Vazquez.
