Lucas Vazquez is set to renew his expiring contract with Real Madrid this summer, according to COPE’s Miguel Angel Diaz.

Diaz reports that Vazquez will be extended for three more seasons until 2024. He says the club highly values his ability to adapt at right back, which he played a considerable amount of when Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola were both out.

Club reporter Arancha Rodriguez confirmed Diaz’s report that Vazquez would indeed be staying in the Spanish capital past his expiring deal this summer.

Vazquez, who turns 30 in July, was a big factor this season before sustaining his own injury. He had arguably one of his best seasons with the club and stepped up big in others’ absences.

He has been with the first team since 2015 after spending several seasons with Castilla and the now disbanded Real Madrid C. He has been with the club since joining the youth system in 2007 at the age of 16.

With Vazquez reportedly inked soon, the attention turns toward club captain Sergio Ramos and whether he will renew with Real Madrid past this season.
