One of the sagas of the summer — Sergio Ramos’s potential divorce from Real Madrid — may finally come to in end, as the Spanish defender, according to AS, will accept the club’s final offer and stay with the club.

Ramos’s contract ends at the end of the month, and both player and club have yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Real Madrid rarely hand out big contracts to ageing stars, even legendary ones. They also, in this case, have accumulated a ton of leverage in negotiations with the signing of David Alaba and the strong performances of Nacho Fernandez and Eder Militao this season in Ramos’s absence. Ramos also has a lot of mileage on him as well as some injury concerns.

But according a report from ABC, this matter is further complicated in that Real Madrid leaked the fact that they are planning on life without Ramos, even organizing a farewell as they expected both parties to move on this summer.

Still, if Ramos accepts a reduced salary, it’s hard to see a separation of club and player this summer.
