Sevilla sporting director Monchi revealed that Sergio Ramos is still having talks with Real Madrid over a contract extension. Monchi talked to Sky Sports and when asked about the reports suggesting that Sevilla was going to sign Ramos as a free agent so that the center-back could return to his first club, the legendary sporting director was clear:

“He’s a Real Madrid player. I think he’s in talks with Real Madrid now to extend his contract, that’s all I can say,” explained Monchi.

The latest reports published on Spanish media indicate that Ramos and Real Madrid could reach some kind of agreement after the center-back decided to accept the possibility of signing a single-year extension. Madrid didn’t want to give him a two-year contract but now that Ramos seems keen on signing for one more season an agreement seems to be close.

Ramos has two weeks left on his current Real Madrid deal, but the fact that he hasn’t signed an offer sheet for any other club yet suggests that the two parts involved in his extension will likely reach an understanding.
